The secret is officially out. Heirloom has been named the Best Cocktail Bar in Northern Virginia in Northern Virginia Magazine’s Best of NoVA 2026 readers’ poll — and we couldn’t be more grateful to the guests who voted to make it happen.
Each year, Northern Virginia Magazine asks its readers to crown their favorite destinations across the region for food, drinks, and entertainment. This year, out of every bar in Northern Virginia, our hidden speakeasy in Reston took the top spot.

Tucked inside Open Road Distilling Co. in Reston Town Center, Heirloom was built on a simple idea: that the best experiences are the ones you discover. Behind our hidden entrance, guests find a plush, well-appointed bar, an intimate dining room, handcrafted cocktails, house made pastas, and modern takes on traditional family favorites.
The magazine highlighted two of our signature pours: the Heirloom, our mezcal-forward namesake cocktail, and the Bees Knees, a citrusy gin classic finished with honey foam. Both are crafted with spirits distilled just steps away at Open Road Distilling Co. — a connection no other cocktail bar in the region can claim.

What makes a Heirloom cocktail different? The spirits behind the bar are made in the building. American Gin, American Vodka, Eagle Eye Rye, and Independence Bourbon are all produced on-site at Open Road Distilling Co., giving our bartenders a level of quality control — and creativity — that starts at the still and ends in your glass.
